Learning how to mount an arrow quiver to your bow is a simple task that only takes a few minutes, sometimes less.
There are 2 basic types of quiver; detachable and permanent. As the name implies, a detachable quiver can be removed from the bow whenever the need arises. A permanent quiver can only be removed with the help of wrench or other tool.
These quivers are also referred to as 1 Piece (detachable) and 2 piece (permanent) quivers.
The manner in which these two quivers mount to the bow is different. A 1-piece Detachable quiver typically mounts over the bow sight.
Although some models such as the Mathews ArrowWeb CT-Series mounts instead to the bows riser; much like a 2-piece Permanent quiver. The 2-piece quiver typically mounts at the top and bottom of the bow riser.
This provides a solid, stable platform for the quiver to attach to. It also lessens vibration during the shot because the quiver has two anchor points. Single piece, detachable quivers only have one point of contact and though they are meant to be removed before the shot, if left on the bow may will be somewhat louder than a 2 piece quiver.
Since most bow hunters prefer to shoot with their quiver and arrows removed from their bow the 1 piece detachable quiver is the most common and widely used. As stated early most of these quivers mount easily over the bow sight by screwing into threaded holes in the sight’s mounting bracket. These holes are the same size and have the same spacing as sight mounting holes to their screws are interchangeable.
To attach the quiver first you must attach the mounting bracket to the bow sight. This is a simple process that requires only an Allen wrench. Connect the mounting bracket to the bow sight using the preexisting quiver holes. Once the quiver bracket is tightened down you can attach the quiver.
Many single piece quivers now feature vertical adjustments which allow you to alter the placement of the quiver on your bow. This helps keep your nocks from filling up with dirt if you rest your bow on the ground during a hunt, which has become increasingly common with today’s short axle to axle bows.
Some 2-piece, permanent quivers are made specifically for certain bow models. For example, companies such as Mathews, Hoyt and Bowtech each have their own line of quivers made specifically for their bow line. There are also “universal” 2-piece quivers that will attach to most bow brands on the market. Be sure to research whether or not a particular 2 piece quiver will fit your bow before purchasing. Unlike 1 piece quivers, 2 piece arrow holders do not always feature universal mounting brackets.
Like all bow accessories be sure your quiver mount(s) are good and tight to avoid excess vibration, and be sure to check them several times each year.
