This deer is starting to gain the good muscle tone of older whitetail bucks, but isnโ€™t quite there yet. He still appears to be fairly lean which would lead me to believe he is an impressive 3.5-year-old.

This buck exemplifies all the characteristics of a four-year-old buck exhibiting a flat back and taut stomach along with well-muscled yet fit or semi-tight hindquarters. Its ears are semi-pointed and the nose is well-defined with no loose skin under the lower jaw.

This is a buck that I've kept an eye on all year at one of my hunting spots. Despite a decent amount of trail camera photos, I was never able to get my eyes on him, which lead me to believe he is a mature buck. Based off his body size during September, and the size of his front shoulders in the December photo, I believe this is a 4.5-year-old buck.
