CJ Alexander Pleads Guilty to Poaching Ohio Buck

By October 16, 20243 Comments

From the very beginning, the CJ Alexander big buck story had its critics. Sure, many of the skeptics were the typical jealous folks that refuse to believe that there are good people who kill great bucks the right way. But as more and more details emerged from this story, things sure seemed sketchy. Still, Alexander doubled down on sticking with his story, even after the buck was confiscated by Ohio DNR in December of 2023.

However, according to an article from Outdoor Life this week, CJ Alexander pleaded guilty in Clinton County Court to 14 criminal charges for poaching one of the biggest whitetail bucks in Ohio history and fabricating an elaborate story to cover it up.

Cj Alexander Buck Now Under Investigation

Cell phone records revealed the scheme in which Alexander killed the 200-plus-inch buck on Nov. 9, 2023. The buck was killed on private land where Alexander knowingly did not have permission to hunt.

Details show how Alexander killed the trophy buck with a crossbow, used accomplices for recovering the buck, and went on to create an elaborate story of how he took the buck on his sister’s property. All this so he could cash in and profit from what the buck would produce monetarily from antler buyers, article sales, and potential sponsor endorsements.

A text message sent to his fiance, Carissa Weisenberger, weeks before he killed the buck says it all…

“I’m gonna get offered stupid money for this deer head babe – Like buying house type money – This deer is gonna make us money.”

Court document samples in the photo below show other text messages that helped investigators close the case on the Alexander Buck.

How big was the buck?

The “Alexander Buck” was in the running for the third-largest all-time typical whitetail in the Boone and Crockett record books. That is, until it was confiscated by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. That’s when the story officially took a major turn.

Alexander made the rounds sharing his story for articles and a number of podcasts. He stood by his story, even after the buck was confiscated by Ohio DNR and the skeptics arrived in full force. He continued to stand his ground on social media posts, defending himself and stating that the truth would eventually come out.

And he was right. The truth has finally come out.

Alexander is scheduled to be sentenced in court on December 11th, according to the clerk of courts.
