Craziest Bear Hunt of All Time – What Would You Have Done?

Bear hunting rarely gets the attention it deserves these days. In fact, some hunters even scoff at the idea of pursuing bears with a weapon in hand. Truth be told, those yet to experience the thrill of a bear in tight quarters don’t know what they’re missing.

Sure, some bear hunts are more exciting to watch than others. Long shots on a bear across a canyon never impressed me much. But the first time I ever got on the ground and went head to head with a black bear at under 10 yards, I knew I was on to one of the most adrenaline-packed hunts of all time.

That’s why the video with Clay Newcomb, of Bear Hunting Magazine, hit so close to home for me. If you’ve never seen it, be sure to check it out below. It’s pretty much the craziest bear hunt of all time.

Close encounters with bears will send adrenaline screaming through your body like no other hunt. The question is, will you be able to handle the situation when it happens?

When Newcomb’s bear got curious and strolled over to his blind to investigate, things got lively in a hurry. The video shows the curious bear marching up to Newcomb’s blind and touching the end of his arrow with its nose. It’s enough excitement to kill a man! Some would be scrambling for pepper spray or their pistol, while others would be screamin’ like a girl.

The bear turns its attention toward Newcomb and decides to move in for a closer look.

Surprisingly enough, Newcomb kept his composure, slid back away from the bear, and with great excitement, said the words many of us were thinking when we wacthed it – “Holy Crap!”

A monster bear in your face - what would you do?

The big question is, what would you have done in a situation like this? How would you have handled it?

Would you let a bear get that close to you?

It’s always good to consider a plan of attack for when things go south on a hunt, prior to the event unfolding. Hats off to Newcomb for how he handled the situation.
