The 2025 Grand National Calling Championship is in the books! The event was held in conjunction with the annual NWTF Convention & Sport Show in Nashville, Tennessee.
This year’s contest was another classic showdown with the world’s best turkey callers finding their place at the top.
When the smoke finally cleared, Dave Owens was crowned winner of the highly coveted Grand National Calling Championship in the Senior Division.
The contest is considered the Super Bowl of the turkey calling world. And much like the Super Bowl, you often see the same team/caller showing up in the championship game year after year. Such has been the case with the Grand Nationals.
Matt Van Cise is the winningest caller in this contest. He’s won the championship 9 times in the Senior Division alone. Once again he found himself vying for the 1st place position in this year’s event.
However, when it came down to the last two men standing, it was Matt Van Cise standing next to Dave Owens with nerves running at an all-time high as they waited to hear the announcement of the winner.
When the announcement finally came, Dave Owens was handed the trophy as the 2025 Grand National Calling Champion.
Owens was followed by Matt Van Cise in 2nd place and Hunter Wallis in 3rd place.
“Dave Owens took it!” said Cuz Strickland. “Grand National champ. That shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone, but his work and practice mindset is pretty amazing. I call him Elvis. Congratulations Dave! Well earned and deserved.”
