Legendary hunting stories are made from the larger-than-life bucks that dodge encounters with hunters and ultimately die on their own of natural causes. And that seems to be exactly what happened in the most recent case where an absolute giant deadhead was recently found in Minnesota.Â
A recent Facebook post made by the Minnesota Official Measurers says that Jesse Schroeder of Lake City, Minnesota found the deadhead in Goodhue County this spring.
The buck was obviously a contender for the top spot among whitetail bucks in the state, but Schroeder would have to wait out the 60-day drying period to have the buck officially scored.Â
After the 60-day drying requirement, the 31-point buck was measured and scored at 277 3/8 net and 283 1/8 gross points, making it the #1 non-typical buck of all time in Minnesota.Â
According to hunters in the area, the buck was well known by a handful of people that were fortunate enough to see it, get trail cam photos of him, and find his sheds.Â
Congrats to Schroeder on finding what could only be described as a true Minnesota Monster.
