There’s been a bit of a trend over the last decade that’s finding hunters returning back to the earliest days where hunters used as much of the animal taken on the hunt as possible. They don’t settle for merely taking the tendies, backstraps and hams. They’re utilizing more and more of their harvest than ever before, including organs, fat, hides, and hooves.
In the video below, you’ll watch as our buddy, Catman, shows how to make deer fat soap by rendering down the fat of a whitetail deer. It’s just another great way to utilize more of the game you pursue, if you’re feeling crafty and looking for a fresh DIY project.Â
What do you think? Would you try making soap from deer fat? What are some of the ways you’ve utilized the deer you’ve killed, beyond the meat you eat?Â
