Ozonics HR600 Ozone Generator Review

By July 15, 2024
An all-new look and improved features make this the best Ozonics unit yet.

“The technology you use impresses no one.  The experience you create with it is everything.”  This quote by Sean Gerety was used in a discussion about user-interface (UI) design, but I’ve often found it applicable to the modern hunting landscape.

It’s not the technology that we care about, it’s how we use it to help us be more successful, and in turn create more memorable experiences in the field.

When it comes to technology’s application to modern hunting, Ozonics has been pioneering a new frontier of scent control since way back in 2007.  That’s when the first iPhone was released, by the way.

How Is Ozone Used For Hunting?

First things first, it’s important to understand how ozone is used in a hunting application.

To make a long, complex story a little shorter, ozone eliminates odors by oxidizing them.  The additional ozone molecule in ozone transfers to the odor molecule, effectively neutralizing it.  In fact, ozone is such a powerful odor eliminator it’s widely used to remove smoke odor from fire-damaged homes, and to deodorize synthetic turf sports fields.

Ozonics machines are designed to be mounted above the hunter while in the field, casting a field of ozone molecules across the hunter’s scent, effectively eliminating it before it reaches, and subsequently spooks, game animals.

And because ozone is a naturally-occuring molecule, frequently being generated during rainstorms through lightning strikes, it is much less likely to spook animals who encounter it.

In well over a decade of field application, and thousands of testimonials from hunters across the world, it’s no secret that ozone technology works.

New Features of the Ozonics HR600

The team at Ozonics really went back to the drawing board when it comes to the HR600.  Their goal was to address all of the consumer feedback they have received over the years and truly deliver the best unit yet.  Here is what they came up with.

One of the primary goals of the new HR600 was to decrease noise and increase ozone output.  This was accomplished by completely redesigning the air intake, fan, and ozone coil system.  The top-mounted intake sucks in oxygen, when is pushed over the coil and out the front of the unit by a (nearly) silent fan.

Silence is key not just when it comes to spooking potential target animals, but also for the enjoyment of your hunt and taking in the sounds of nature.

The removable and replaceable coil is another major benefit.  Should your coil stop working or become damaged, you no longer need to send your entire unit back to Ozonics for repair.  Simply pop the old coil out and put a new one it’s place, then get back to hunting.

Other Notable Improvements

  • New XL battery for up to 13 hours of run-time in Standard mode.  No more running out of battery in the middle of a hunt!
  • Five new modes of operation – Standard, Boost, HyperBoost, DriWash and Locker.
  • Red work lights mounted on the underside of the HR600 make for an easier setup and tear down in the dark.
  • Integrated on-board charging means no more taking your battery out and forgetting it at home.
  • Control remotely with an app from your smartphone, or via a wireless remote controller (sold separately)

Sporting an all-new design and a host of new or improved features, there’s no question that the HR600 is the finest in-field scent elimination tool that Ozonics has ever built.  However, all that innovation comes with a hefty price of $699.
