I am about to retire and want to give myself an Elk Hunt in Colorado. I am used to Texas Weather since I hunt in the hill country. I am interested in the best boots to buy for their weather and having to hike in WITHOUT breaking the bank if possible. So please let’s hear it. Thanks!!!

First off, congrats on your pending retirement!  Now, when it comes to boots, the old saying "you get what you pay for" is very true here.  So don't go super cheap or you'll regret it!  We don't elk hunt a lot, but when we do we've had great luck with Danner boots.  Both the Pronghorn and the Alsea have been very good to us.  This fall we'll be using the new LaCrosse Lodestar, which so far has been a great boot as well.
