BowTech made its mark with pure, raw speed. For 2014 the big news at BowTech is the lightest premium bow ever produced. The new BowTech Carbon Knight (MSRP $699) weighs just 3.2 pounds, due entirely to its high-tech carbon-material construction. BowTech discovered the perfect carbon-composite balance to produce maximum strength with minimal weight in their Knight Riser.

Masko Hawker

Masko Outdoor Gear has one of the most versatile packs on the market with the new Hawker. The key point to this pack is that you can carry all of your gear with you while you are climbing or stalking and when the shot presents itself, you simply detach one snap and pull your bow over your head and prepare to make the killing shot. It is made of high quality material and can carry loads of up to 75 lbs. It comes with a meat bag for storing meat (which keeps your bag clean) and a hydration bottle.

REXPID Broadheads

This new company has taken mechanical broadhead design and the worries of one blade opening before the other and solved it with an ingenious gear system located in the ferrule of the broadhead. Because the blades are all “linked” together, it is impossible for one blade to open without the others to follow suit. The heads come in 2 (100 grain) and 3 (125 grain) blade designs; aptly called the RexPID II and the RexPID III. The 100 grain head carries a 1 ½ inch cut and the 125 grain carries a 1 9/16 inch cut.

The company also has 2 fixed blade heads; the NURI and the BIG III. The NURI uses a set of rotary wing blades to create a devastating wound channel by helping the broadhead push through and over ribs and other small bones. The specs on the NURI are 100 grains and 1 ¼ inch cut.

Evolved Habitat Dirt Bag

One of the more interesting ideas to hit food attractants comes from the folks at Evolved Habitat. Their new Dirt Bag food attractant may look brown to the eye but deer see it much differently. Using a special coating process called GLO Cote, the attractant will appear bright blue when viewed through the eyes of a whitetail. And if you didn’t know, deer are very sensitive to the color blue. In other words, they can detect it from greater distances than other colors. The idea is that deer will find you feed faster because they will be able to see it more easily and from greater distances. This will most often bring the deer in purely out of curiosity…at least until they pick up Dirt Bags scent.

PSE Archery DNA SP

Axle to Axle Length – 31″
Brace Height – 6″
Draw Weights – 50, 60, 65, 70 lbs
Draw Length – 24.5″ to 30″
Speed – Up to 345 fps

Pete Shepley’s Tucson-based bow company has been delivering the goods since 1971, the 2014 DNA SP (MSRP $900) yet another example of that company’s expertise in producing fast yet forgiving compound bows. The original DNA was all about speed, but PSE listened when customers asked for a little softer draw. SP stands for Smooth Pull, but this DNA still retains the lightweight and speedy nature of former models.

Evolved Habitat Deer Cane

Look for Evolved Habitats highly popular Deer Cane in a new liquid, spray formula. This new spray also has GLO Cote meaning you can spray foliage that is up off the ground making it even easier for deer to find your attractant. The possibilities are really endless with this particular product.
